Recommend a C DAQ chassis

Hello all ,

I have 9401 module and 4 encoders

i need to measure the data  continuously

So , recommend me the apt  CDAQ chassis for me ??

c DAQ 9178 ?? will be a right choice "??

You'd really made an effort to give us as little information as possible.

It's like saying: I want to go from a to b, what transportation do you recommend.

How about some information like:

Qualities (resolution)

Frequencies (0.1 Hz is quite different then 10 kHz)

Others (like what should happen with the data)

With 4 encoders, you need to make sure your chassis has at least 4 counters.

Another piece of information missing is over what kind of bus do you want to communicate with the chassis over.  USB?  Ethernet?

I agree - you need a chassis with at least 4 counters. So in theory a cDAQ-9171 would be sufficient.  But if you have 4 quadrature encoders with a Z-Signal then you need 12 digital inputs -> ie. 2x 9401 and a cDAQ-9174. Of course also take into account the max. timing resolution of 100 ns.

thank you jg69

i am having normal type encoder (4)  only . so i hope 9171 would be sufficient .

so 9401 single module itself sufficient right ?

 reply for this !!

i will go with the chassis 9174

so pls confirm the module 9401 will be sufficient ?? for my process ( 4 normal  encoders )

"Normal" does not qualify the type of encoder this is.

hello all ,

i am using the incremental encoder . resolution upto 50000 pulses per revolution  { ppr} . i am going measure a updown count

hello all ,

I have a doubt in 9401 pinout. I need to measure the up-down count from  4  incremental type encoders. so , i will need to use the A and B pin of encoders .   i have attached the 9401 pinout took from NI -max . pls have a look at the pin out . there was a clash in pinouts .  CTR 2   and CTR 3 B are having the same pinout of CTR 0 A and CTR 1 A.

or

i need to buy a another 9401 module ???

Hi bhuvanesh,

why don't you call your local NI sales rep?

CTR 2   and CTR 3 B are having the same pinout of CTR 0 A and CTR 1 A. or i need to buy a another 9401 module ???

That's what Jens was telling you: depending of the type of your encoders you need to use more hardware.

And "AB(Z)"-type encoders are NOT "normal" encoders…

Btw. your table shows the "default" counter terminals: you can always change them! But only as long as your hardware supports the routing and the number of needed terminals. So again I advise to call your local NI sales rep!

Best regards,
GerdW
