Reading Excel Content with Labview

Hi,

I am wondeirng if it is possible to read the data in excel cells and spit them out so that labview I can use those numbers or text with instruments. For example I write 2000 in a cell I have labview read the entire excel file and it sees the 2000 and it spits it out. On the other than there might 5 different numbers in different cells is there anyway to get labview to read the excel file and place the content of the cells in a labview spread sheet?

Hi MrSafe,
you wrote in the wrong section. You can use ActiveX functions to read the data from Excel and store your data as what you want.

Thanks for the reply could you point me in the right direction I have a link to a thread  but it doesn't explain how to use activex or even how to get started. I am very new to labview if you could help point me in the direction ti would be great thank you.

i downloaded the example and the required software except when I try to load the example it says .cbx not found?

Thanks that works however maybe it is my lack of experiance with labview but this file doesn't prompt you for a file I take it I have to insert a file path into the vi?

yes that´s right, it creates a new workbook. Attached is the vi to open an existing file.
