RS485 Communication with multiple devices problem

It is so very satisfying when you can solve a problem!  Congratulations.  Is it still possible to 'catch' the error response and still operate everything on the same bus?  I wonder if you could try the 'phantom read' method that I needed to implement to keep a Siglent power supply operational.  To reiterate my solution, I sent a query to the device at the end of every communication.  

Is there a way to just read this 'error response' to keep things going?

I have already been considering to read the error but the thing is that the device automatically resets the error after a while. This means that whenever I try to talk to the other one, the Pfeiffer will give me an answer although I don't want to. An option would be to "cut" the line with this device when I want to speak to the Tecon... But this is as optimal as using two different lines..
