RS-485 Cards

G'Day All,

Has anyone any experience with RS-485 cards other than thos sold by NI? I know that both the PCI-485/2 and PCI-485I work well with LabVIEW (& MAX), but I was wondering if there were many other options out there that people have tried and are happy with?

I have never used NI serial cards. The only time I ever used an RS-485 serial card, it was a Black Box card. I found it to be of excellent quality.

As long as it is a good serial card, there shouldn't be any interfacing issues with National Instruments' software.

One difference between NI cards and 3rd party cards is the built-in support for RS-485 transceiver control through NI-VISA. These VISA attributes only work with NI cards.
