RS 232 serial in Labview

I need to send commands to some external hardware we have (Flasc photospectrometer) and I have no idead where to even start. I am very new to Labview, and don't know to much about it beyond some tutorial videos that I watched. Ive seen other threads that talk about receiving data via serial, but I need to be able to send commands.

Study them, and then come back with a more specific question.
