RPN Calculator

Hi folks,

I'm looking for a VI that creates a RPN Calculator. I figure out that
this must be a "standard" exercise for those, who work with labview so I
would ask if s/o has the VI all done an could send it to me (please do
send it to my email and dont post it in the group).

thanks a lot
Matthias

Nobody here claims to have a rpn calculator written in LabVIEW but it does not sound very difficult. What have you tried?

(I would also recommend not to put e-mail addresses into posts. They often get harvested by spammers. You can ask the moderator to edit it out)

Hi irmantas,

did you read what Altenbach wrote 3 years ago?

All of his message still applies to your question - nothing has changed in the last time…

(Why do you think anybody has a RPN software available for you?)

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi,GerdW

I thought that in 3 years someone did this vi project and can send it for help, because as Altenbach mentioned it is not a very difficult project, I just can't get it done.

You should still remove your e-mail address from your message.

Search the forums for examples of normal calculators.  (There are many bad attempts at it.  Some messages might have some improved versions.)

Once you see how they are done, you might be able to adapt them to an RPN type calculator.

Hi, RavensFan

I already tried this method, but still can't get it done, but thanks for advice.

Hi irmantas,

So you already have a VI (or several within a project), but you still want us to give you "homework for free" instead of asking on how to improve your own code?

Show you VI(s), tell us what's wrong with it and ask specific questions on how to improve the VI(s)!

Best regards,
GerdW

What "method" did you try? Program your owns? Search the forum for solutions?

What did you do so far?

Front panel: Did you place all the buttons you need? (numbers, delimiter, operations, etc.)

Block Diagram: Do you have a toplevel while loop? Some way to poll the buttons (events, polling)? Did you decide what the states are? Do you have a method to maintain a stack? Do you have a method to accumulate numbers from consecutive numeric buttons? Are you familiar with RPN inputs (Hey, no equal button!)? Etc.

What part caused you problems?
