Question concerning a DRC-91CA temperature controller

I'm not sure where to direct this question, but I thought I would address it here.

I have a technical question regarding an obsolete LakeShore device called the DRC-91CA temperature controller.  I'm trying to write to the device to change the setpoint temperature, and the heater range.  The device is in the "remote" mode and the units for the temperature are in degrees Kelvin.

I'm using Labview 8.2 to do this, and I'm using the GPIB write function.  The device does does not respond when I try to use the following commands.

For Temperature:
"S290.0
"

For the heater:
"R0"

In general, I cannot write to the device.  I know that this device came out around 1990 and maybe it has trouble reading commands from newer software like Labview.

Is there any advice that you would be able to give me?

Have you checked to see whether the instrument requires additional termination character(s) than the standard EOI? Older instruments sometimes required a CR or LF (or both) in addition to the EOI. With the GPIB Write function, you use the Mode input to change how the write is terminated.

Check out the user manual of your device. You would be interested in Section 4. Here it talks about how to operate this device remotely. On page 4-3, it talks about the terminating character, be sure you are complying with this. Termination Characters in NI-VISA
