I'd like to go one step further .. 

My slider will allow the user to set their desired number of on/off times for a solenoid, like a thermostat controller. So if they input a numerical "number of cycles" to give me 1/2 the number of sliders to be made visible. How could I pair sliders (an on and an off) and show that graphically? 

I thought about setting the colour band between each pair of sliders, but experience tells me there are dragons down that path.
