Problem Installing LINX on LabVIEW 2024 (Error Code 1003 - PostInstall.vi)

Hello everyone,

I’m having trouble installing Digilent LINX on LabVIEW 2024 using VIPM.
Every time I try to install it, I get this error message:

Main Package Name: Digilent LINX (Control Arduino, Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone and more) v3.0.0.186 Package Name with Error: Digilent LINX (Control Arduino, Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone and more) v3.0.0.186 Error Message: VIPM could not install the package lvh_linx-3.0.0.186. Error Code: 1003 Error Source: Invoke Node in PostInstall.vi VI Path: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\PostInstall.vi

I already tried:

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling LINX

  • Clearing the VIPM cache and temp folders

  • Manually copying the LINX folder from GitHub (MakerHub/LINX/LabVIEW/vi.lib/MakerHub/LINX) into my LabVIEW 2024 vi.lib directory

  • Running VIPM and LabVIEW as Administrator

But the error keeps happening (same PostInstall.vi issue).

It seems LINX was originally made for LabVIEW 2014–2020, and may not be fully compatible with 2024.
Is there an updated Community Edition or any other way to get LINX working in LabVIEW 2024?
I mainly want to connect Arduino and Raspberry Pi devices.

Any help or workaround would be really appreciated 🙏

Thank you!

Hello,

I did some research in our knowledge base and also tried it on my computer.

Have you tried installing this package using the VI Package Manager?
You can search for VI Package Manager in the Windows Start menu, and once in the program, search for

Digilent LINX. The package will appear, as shown in the image below, and you can choose the LabVIEW version for which you want to install the LINX package.

Could you please try installing it this way and let me know if the error still occurs?

I look forward to your feedback!

Hi

The old LINX software is deprecated since the LabVIEW Community version came out in 2020.

You should install the newer Hobbyist version. There is a version to match the specific LabVIEW version, like shown here :

Notice that you must cleanup any leftovers from a previous LINX installation before installing the Hobbyist version. Inspect your VIPM installation for any LINX and MakerHub entries.

The LINX version 3.0.1.192 was released in 2016 to go with the then newly released LabVIEW Home Bundle, which was based on LabVIEW 2014 SP1.

The references in your image to a release 3.0.0.186 is pretty odd. There is no such release to my knowledge. Maybe you got a beta version or something.

Regards
