Printing a Word document...this one should be easy!

This should be such an easy task, but, alas, I am having difficulty.  All I want to do is have LabView print a specific Word document when a pushbutton is pressed.  Yet every one of my attempts either prints out a blank page, or a page full of ASCII garbage.

While searching through the forum here I found the sample VI I have attached and found that it seems to work with single page documents but not multiple page documents.  Not sure why.  Also, it opens up the document, prints it, then closes the document.  I would like to be able to have LV print a Word document without opening it, if that's possible.

(I am using LV 8.5 and the document was written using Word 2000 and I'm printing to a default printer)

When I used report generation that's when I got either a blank page or a page full of ASCII characters.

Hello,

I've made a simple example (you can see in attach) and it printed it correctly.

Could it be you office version? I've made de .doc in "open office" and save it in .doc.

Okay, that's odd.  Your example looks almost exactly like what I've tried before.  However, in your "New Report" icon, I see you have wired the file path directly to it, along with "Report Type".  I don't have that option in my icon - I can only wire in "Report Type" and "Error In".

Have installed the report generation?
What's your options on the "report type"?
If you only have
1 - standard report
2 - html

Means that you haven't installed the report generation.

You got it, my only options are standard report and HTML.  Looks like I'll have to see our MIS department and have them install the report generation toolkit on my 'puter!  I saw different tools for generating reports, so I assumed it was on here already.

Shows you what happens when you assume!  Smiley Wink

Thanks!

Yes... you should install it.

Anothe topic it's the following... If you wanna build an executable, you've to add dinamically a certain vi. But you can look in the root of the dvd where's the report generation is, for a pdf. And inside it's the tips to build an executable with report generation.
