Path to TopVI

Hopefully this is a simple one...
I am using LabVIEW V 7.1. How can I obtain the path of TopVI from a subVI that resides in another directory?

Use the VI Server functions coupled with the Call Chain function. The Call Chain doesn't care about physical locations.

Very clever - thanks. The call chain can be lengthy and the TopVI is not always the same name.

From the output "Call chain" I put in a "Array size" and subtracted 1 for the input to the index array.

Thanks again.

OK, so you're really want to know the parent VI rather than the "top" VI. In that case, the index of 1 will work for you.
