Pasting to a Control

Hello,

I am attempting to initialize a control slider to a set value. This
value can change dynamically as the VI runs. I have found that you can
right mouse click on the control and under Data Operation you can Paste
Data. This causes the slider to move to the value that I desire. Is
there a way to do this in the VI itself?
