PXI-4060 and PXI-5102 are not DAQmx and do not show up under MAX->DAQmx Devices

I was having problems running my code assuming that the PXI-4060 and PXI-5102 were DAQmx devices and had DAQmx device names. Then I looked under MAX (Measurement and Automation) and saw that the cards were not listed under DAQmx Devices. After searching all over the NI website and reinstalling DAQmx (up to 8.3) and still not getting the devices to be recognized, I found one small mention of the PXI-5102 not being a DAQmx device based on this link:

http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=150&message.id=635&requireLogin=False

For finding which devices were considered DAQmx, this link also mentions this other link:

http://www.ni.com/support/daq/versions_pci_pxi.htm

The 2nd link specifies that cards not on the list do not have DAQmx support. However, the PXI-4070 which is not on the list is a DAQmx device. Could someone at NI please make a comprehensive list of cards that qualify as DAQmx devices?? This will save hours of debug work.

Thanks.

Michael

Hello Michael,

It looks like you found out that the 5102 is not supported in DAQmx, only in NI-Scope or with limited functionality in traditional DAQ.  The 4060 is the same being supported only in NI-DMM or Traditional NI-DAQ.  Again the reason to use NI-DMM would be to expose the additional functionality of the DMM over a normal multi-function DAQ card.

As far as making a comprehensive list of devices supported in DAQmx, there are a couple of pieces of content that people are writing to make lists of what drivers are supported by each of the modular instrument cards.  Both of these cards are modular instrument cards so they will be included in these KnowledgeBase articles.  I’m also working on finding out who updates that master DAQmx list to make sure that we include lists of modular instrument products as well as the normal DAQ product line.  Sorry for the inconvenience, but we’re definitely working to improve the lists.
