PDA module problem

I have never been able to get the PDA module for Pocket PC to work.
On a new computer, Windows 2000 SP3, I have installed LabVIEW 7.0, MS embedded tools, Pocket PC module.
I have used the NI License Manager and the status says "Activated for this computer".
But when I start LabVIEW, the only execution target is LabVIEW for Windows. If I select "Select target with options", LabView crashes and displays "..." Within LabVIEW the Build for PDA option is grayed out.
I have spoke with NI tech support several times, but the only advice I have been given is Reinstall everything. Has anyone else had this problem? or have some advice?
Thank you

Did you install the PocketPC 2002 SDK (available form Microsoft) after the installation of the MS embedded tools and before the installation of the LabVIEW PDA-Module? Which version of the embedded tools did you install?

Yes, I installed the SDK. And installed version 3.0 of the embedded visual tools.

Well, in the "Tools" menue, do you have the option "Configure PocketPC Devices..." and if so, can you configure one, e.g. the "Pocket PC 2002 Emulation", and test it? If not, than I presume that somehow LabVIEW did not configure on the Pocket PC SDK correctly. So I would try deinstalling the LabVIEW PDA module, the PocketPC SDK, the WinCE tolls, and than cleaning up the registry. Afterwards, try to install it in the reversed order in which you deinstalled it.
I have had some difficulties, too. But after deinstalling and a registry clean, it did work again. Good luck!

Yes, the "Configure PocketPC Devices..." option is available. I have configured my iPAQ. When I select test, it connects successfully. It seems that there are some options that aren't enabled.

Hello tschopper,

Which Pocket PC operating system are you using? With a Pocket PC 2002 device, you should be able to follow the installation instructions in the PDA Module Release Notes under the installation section. Because a newer PDA module recently released, but you are still using LabVIEW 7.0, make sure to use the reference material for the older PDA module.

Most newer PDA devices use the Pocket PC 2003 operating system. If you are using Pocket PC 2003, use this Knowledge Base as a guide for the necessary installations. You can
substitue the newer eVT 3.0 SP 3 for steps 4 and 5.

This process, though difficult, definitely works if you follow the directions closely and in exact order. I currently have LabVIEW 7.0 on my machine and I can target both PPC 2002 and 2003 devices after following these installation steps.

I hope this helps!
