PCI-express

This my first time to use NI PCI-express and I have a question regarding that. I have 8 pressure transducers using RS485 communication protocol and providing 2 wires for that connection ( RS485A & RS485B ), and I have NI PCI-express mounted on my PC. I want to read the pressure of these transducers using LabVIEW. The PCI-express has connection accessory which been connected to the PC and out 8 D SUB-9 male ports. How can I connect my communication wires (RS485A & RS485B) to these ports and be able to read my pressures on LabVIEW ? Thank you.

Read the manual for your hardware, it will contain the needed information!

You forgot to:

  • to the exact hardware you use ("NI PCI-express on my PC" is very unspecific)
  • differ between communication protocol (RS485) and hardware connector (DSub9)

PCIe-8431/8 Serial Interface Card. I have misunderstanding regarding RS485 protocol and the hardware connector (Dsub9) and want to understand that, if I connected my RS485A&B to that (DSUB9), the communication protocol is RS485 ?!

I guess you need to connect correctly as described in the manual.

And maybe configure the hardware as your 8431 supports RS485 and RS422…
