Our Status

Hello All,

I would like to know what specifications are applied that made me a proven regular, Actually I should still be a beginner. Its just that I spent lot of time on the forum reading threads from which I could learn. Made me feel happy though, but thats incorrect, like this if I spend even more time I would be get a new status without actually getting it to that level.

Any inputs??

Someone else asked a similar question a while back.

Yes it is a highly debated topic. Yet the ranking and the metrics that are discussed show the number of posts and other stuff which ranks them. What is important to know that even if you get a particular rank, in my case Proven Regular, it meant that I have enough experience in handling fairly complex questions, which to me sounds untrue as I still fumble at lot many simple questions which if I start posting probably get laughed at.

I believe the true ranks which i feel are the altenbacks, the dennis, the ben and few more gems like them who would come and help at time and again.

Thus probably a better way to rank  would be through the quality of questions asked and the quality of replies than the quantity.

I understand that this is very relative in lot many aspects.

But wanted to share my views with the fellow forum members.

There is an expression in English that may not translate well, it goes.

"Call me anything you want, except late for dinner."*

So don't get hung on the names**.

Ben

*This is a play on words that exploits the strange sentance structures available in english. The phrase "call me late for dinner" could mean "address me using the name 'late for dinner' " or it could mean that you notify me late about the availablity of dinner.

** That is coming from someone who wanders around the forum using multiple titles. Go figure!
