I am about to upgrade to LV 8.6.1. I would like to know if vis created with 8.6.1 can be opened with 8.6 directly.
I share code with several other users and they are still using 8.6.
I cannot find this info anywhere on NI's website

Yes, you can open VIs save in 8.6.1 in version 8.6.
