New to Labview

Folks,

My department just purchased Labview 6i and the digital I/O card
PCI-DIO-32HS for instrument control. Being new to Labview, I found the
programming environment to be completely different than text base
language (like C), and I have a very tough time learning to program, not
to mention controlling the digital I/O lines inside Labview. I have
also looked through the manuals and examples that come with the CD, but
there is not a step-by-step tutorial for a beginner.
What book do you recommend for a Labview beginner? Is there any
online material that will help me get started? Thanks.

Artur,

There is a page in NI web site with list of LabVIEW
books:http://www.ni.com/reference/books/.
As well, take a look at LabVIEW FAQ:

I can recommend "Labview For Everyone" (Wells/Travis) for getting you
up to speed using the interface and some simple vi's. I got mine from
Amazon.

Being a fairly new user myself, the best help I have found is some of
the sample vis from the NI web pages.

One could if so inclined, write a thick book called "LabView Quirks"
🙂

As far as learning labVIEW, i would stronngly suggest buying a book
that has been already suggested 2 U.

Once you are familiar with LabVIEW a little bit, i would suggest
looking into the PCI-DIO-32HS examples that come with NI-DAQ driver.
you will find every possible kind of example to work with this board.

Also i would suggest looking at newly updated PCI-DIO-32HS manual on NI
website which provides a lot of good information about understanding
this board as well as programming sequences to follow for a particular
task.

regards and good luck

Abdullah
