NI windows services being terminated

I am finding that all my NI windows services are being terminated overnight and not restarting. Not sure whether this is likely to be an NI problem, an IT problem (I am connected to the site network), a windows problem or a combination of issues. If anyone has had this problem before I would be interested to hear if and how it was resolved.

...or a problem with your program.

Can you explain a bit more about your problem? What exactly is happening? There is not nearly enough information in your post to even begin giving an answer.

Well LabView is not even running so that rules my program out. The PC (HP z640, win 7) is being left on overnight, albeit with me logged off, and when I arrive in the morning all the NI services have been terminated. It's as simple as that. I suspect that the problem may be down to us in some way,  but I cannot be sure at this point. If someone else has experienced the same problem independently then that would indicate the problem is, more than likely, due to NI. If not then we need to look harder at what may be going on in the background.

What do you mean that all the NI services have been shutdown? How do you tell? What symptoms are you seeing? Are there other services that are being stopped as well?

OK, I have an inspection system comprising 4 USB 3 cameras linked to a single PC (HP Z640, WIN 7). I became aware of the problem because I couldn't connect to the cameras in the morning even though they were working fine the previous evening. When I went into NI MAX to check what was going on I found that MAX wouldn't load properly. So I went into control panel/administrative tools/ services and could see that most of the NI windows services had stopped and not restarted. When these were restarted I could connect to the cameras. So the question is - what is causing these windows services to stop? One possibility that I am currently investigating is related to the power options for USB devices. I'm also asking our IT dept whether there could be anything running during the night that might be causing this problem. In addition it would be interesting to discover if anyone using LabView (with or without USB cameras) has encountered a similar problem.

OK, my number 1 suspect would be the USB automatic power down settings. One test you could run would be to create a simple program that accesses one of the cameras on a regular basis and leave it running all night. Does that program get stopped?

OK, thanks for the tip. This is the kind of thing I'm now focussing on. Will let you know how things progress.

Disabling the USB automatic shutdown appears to have worked this morning so I am cautiously optimistic that the source of the problem has been discovered and fixed.
