I am about to wipe my whole hard drive as I have not been able to solve this problem.
Something has corrupted my MAX(Measurement & Automation) database. MAX takes forever to load and constantly freezes, and hangs the system.
This is what I have tried.
1.) Uninstal/reinstall LabVIEW.
2.) Repair NI Max
3.) Reset NI configuration Manager
4.) Delete all old MAX configurations in the Program Data folder.
5.) Various combinations of above.
Any other suggestions? (What to delete in the registry?)
I am using the latest and greatest(sigh) versions of LabVIEW, VISA, etc.
Cheers,
mcduff

Hi,
Do you remember what changed before you started noticing this problem?
Also can you generate NI-MAX report?
Here is how:

Can you verify that the NI Service Locator is running in the Windows service manager. You can typically launch it by typing in services.msc into the Windows run or search dialog.

Hi,
Try to remove all aliases from the VISA.INI file. Especially the ones that are not connected (anymore)
W7 File location: C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\NIvisa\visaconf.ini

Worst case, I would suggest installing the latest NI System Configuration 14.0, which includes the latest MAX 14.0 before going the route of uninstalling everything or formatting the system.

Sorry for the late reply as I have not had time to try all of the suggestions on these posts.
1.) Do you remember what changed before you started noticing this problem?
I tried to update NI-SCOPE; since then if I try to reinstall NI-SCOPE it fails.
2.) Also can you generate NI-MAX report?
It took a while, but yes. There was an error with the NI-DAQe plugin.
I removed a lot of stuff, NI-DAQ and other stuff, and so far it seems to work. However, I will need that NI-DAQ stuff soon enough, and may have to bite the bullet and reinstall Windows. Reinstalling the software does not seem to work, even with fresh downloads.
Thanks for all of the suggestions and help.
Regards,
mcduff
