NI 9234 with NI myRIO

Hi Everyone,

Is it possible to use NI 9234 and NI USB-9162 with NI myRIO? or is it there any similar module for NI myRIO?

Thank you!

Hello absias,

You can plug both of them in a unique computer.
But, if you want to plug the USB-9162 directly to the NI myRIO and use it as an input, it's not possible.

Can we have more details of the aim of your system? Which hardware do you have?

Best regards,

Hi Jovan N,

Thank you for help. I am doing Active Noise Cancellation project. I found very sensitive microphones, but they need BNC connector. That's why I wanted to use this modules.

Hello,

You want to acquire the signal from your microphone with the 9234  plugged in the USB 9162. Then, process it directly with the myRIO?

Which of these products do you possess?

I need those informations to know which products should I advice to you, and it depends on which of these products you already own.

Best regards,

Hi Jovan N,

I have NI myRIO, NI 9234, NI USB-9162, two microphones with BNC connectors and two loudspekers. Loudspeakers I just directly connect to myrio board, but for microphones I cannot connect directly, so my lecturer gave me NI 9234, NI USB-9162.

Shortly about project. I am constructing FXLMS inside FPGA to cancel the noise, then monitor the changes of canceling level with PC.

Thank you !

Hello Absias,

After some researches, I found two options we can try with your devices:

1. MyRio has a USB port. There are examples of the community in which the USB is used as an Input.

In this case you can use the 9234-9162 with the MyRio. The signal will be acquired by the 9234, then sent trough the 9162 to the MyRIO, but you need additional LabView code to control the USB input. ( https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-39006/version/2)

2. The 9234 has a resolution of 24bit and this device is made for such applications. But if you don't need such resolution, the MyRIO has analog inputs with a resolution of 12bit which you can use to directly acquire the signal from your microphone by splitting the BNC wire (Warning-GND!).

Keep me in touch.

Hi Jovan N.,

Thank you for replying. Today I installed NI DAQ, and was able to use NI USB 9162 with PC, but still couldn't with myRIO. Tomorrow I try to do what you suggested.

Here I attached the example from NI for Active Noise Cancellation for cRIO, I changed it a little bit for myRIO. Can you tell me please how to change the host.vi,  because for my project I don't need any s(n),  I need to get e(n)=0, what I mean I am not trying to filter signal from noise, I have only noise, and I want to cancel it. I attach my block diagram here.

Thank you very much.

Hi absias,

all this fuzz because you want to use a special module because you need BNC connectors???

Ever thought about soldering a simple "BNC to open wire" connector?

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi GerdW,

Yes I was doing all this to be able to use two microphones without cutting the wire. But after I still had to cut them and connect to myRIO through PCB piezotronics (ICP® sensor signal cond). And it works now,

Thank you
