Multiple GPIB address settings

I have two gpib devices set up in a linear configuration to my computer. The first device has a pad of 9 while the second is set to 0 but when I try to communicate with it, I get error code 3. How do I set different addresses?

Change the address of the instrument to something other than zero. Zero is the default address of the controller. If you don't know how to change it's address, contact the manufacturere or describe the instrument. Someone on this forum may have used it.

Thanks... just figured it out. Has anyone had experience in programming a STM -100/MF thickness/Rate monitor? I am getting some error messages that I cannot understand.
