Monitoring and Alarming System for Blue M furnace

Hi,

Thak for your help, We gave the proposal and it was approved and We are inprocess of getting the hardware for the project, meanwhile I have a question; As you know the controller we are using has the communication opion, if we go for the communication option using the RS 485 how do I start and set up and get the output desired, and what will be my hardware requirements. The controller used is the MIC 6000 and the link for the manual is  http://www.partlow.com/uploadedFiles/Downloads/MIC6000_DS705.pdf

Thank you

Brian

Hi Brian,

How do I enable the alarm after the temperature reaches 300 degrees and disable the alarm after the soak period, can you explain this in detail.

Thank you

Let me know how much Labview programming you have done.  If you haven't done much, this would be a good one to start with.

I am looking at the example Temperature system Demo.Vi in the examle finder, I find it similar to what I want, but the only thing is to enable the alarm after it reaches 300 degrees and disable it after the soak time(1 hour). can you help me in modifying the circuit, can any one help.....

I am sending you the file as an attachment incase you cant find it.......

I guess I am not sure what hardware you ordered.  What is the list of hardware you will be working with?

I am planning on working with USB 9211 for the data acquisition.. Do I need anything else.. I thought of putting forward the logic first and get an approval from the manager and buy the software.,, Is USB 9211 fine or do I have to o for anything better... We are right now more concentratd to show that the program works to our manager.

Also the controller is showing the following measurements as per the Thermocouple.. I am sending you the attachment of it.

Thank you

Brian

I don't understand why you are using the USB DAQ to get you temperatures when you can get them from the controllers.

We get the temperature on the controller but how do we get them on to the computer,, what is the hardware we require to get the temperature readig on to the computer and then how do I interface the computer with the controller, and then how can Labview read the temperature and how do we perform the program. Can you please give the information in detail.

[ The reason I thought of using the USB DAQ because the controllers were very old and I donot want to mess up anything with the controller which will delay the production, so I thught of directly taking the readings from the thermocouple]

Of the two ways which is the best way and hardware required for the preferred way and how to procedd on to it.

Please help ....

The cheapest route would be to communicate with the controllers, but you have to know how to do that.  The easiest would be to use the T/C Daq device.  Are you not using a Windows environment?  I'm not sure why you provided the voltage vs temperature data.  Am I missing something?
