Missing DAQmx

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I am new to DAQmx. I am LabView 8.6. I am missing all DAQmx components. Like, when I created new VI,

Functions->Measurement I/O->..

There is nothing related to DAQmx...I do not have the DAQmx examples either...

C:/program files/natioal instruments/labview 8.6/vi.lib . I could not find anything related to DAQ  either.

Should I updated the driver for DAQmx? Where should I find it? How could I find whether and  which version DAQmx had been installed? Thanks.

You should also check your CDs, as you may have the software on CD. The CDs would be called "Device Driver Reference CD", or something like that. Could save you the pain of the huge download.

Acutally I already installed the DAQmx 8.7.1 througn the CD provided by NI. Do I have to update it to 8.8?

After installing DAQmx 8.7.1, there is still no DAQmx related items in the following directory...

C:/program files/natioal instruments/labview 8.6/vi.lib

No, you don't need traditional DAQ and you don't need 8.8.

Did you install DAQmx before or after LabVIEW. If it was before, then you'll need to reinstall.

I did reinstall DAQmx this afternoon. Nothing helped. What I used is CD1 of 2 provided by NI with DAQ 8.7.1 on it. Is it the right one?

When I tried to instal, after selected the directory, there is one list is DAQmx 8.7.1. Under it, I selected LabView 8.0 ect. (actually I selected all the versions listed there) support and examples. Is this the right CD? Sorry, I can not post picture now.

Or should  I explore different CD? Thank you all!!!!!

Hey guys,

I tried to install NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 driver this morning again. I was asked to choose which version of LabView I would like to support. The lastest version listed there is 8.5. However, I am using LabView 8.6..So I chose to support 8.5...After I installed the DAQmx driver, under the direcotory

C:/program files/natioal instruments/labview 8.6/vi.lib . I could not find anything related to DAQmx.

However,  C:/program files/natioal instruments/labview 8.5/vi.lib  I did find all the vi I need.

Any suggestion? Should I use the latest version of driver or something else I am missing? Thank you.

Oly,

The DAQmx 8.7.1 Driver did not have support for LabVIEW 8.6, I would recommend downloading DAQmx driver 8.7.2 or later, we have 8.8 and 8.9 out as well. You can find the driver page here: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/fn/p/sb/navsRel/lang/en?q=daqmx&x=15&y=13

Sorry I gave you the bad advice about 8.7.1. I misread the version of DAQmx that I installed with 8.6.

Hey guys,

Finally it is working now. Thank you so much.

I am using LabView 8.6. So DAQmx 8.7.2 or later vision should be fine. :D....
