Mathscript syntax error

I am trying to perform 16-QAM modulation using the function in MATLAB in the RT module but somehow there is an syntax error even though the function works perfectly fine in MATLAB. The syntax error only arises when i add the third argument of 'gray' to it. Otherwise it works fine.

How can i overcome this?
