Thanks for flagging my workaround as a solution, though I still think we need to get to the bottom of the problem.  That Xnode should NOT be greyed out, and I wanna know why.

Aha. It says: "Match Regular Expression.xnode: Library that defines the XNode is broken"

Working with NI support, I ran the steps to repair the installation. After that was complete, the VI on the palette now works.

Did you get any information why the Match Regular Expression was greyed out?
