Lower Level Serial Buffer Size vi.

Hi.
Can the lower level serial buffer size vi handle
more than 65,534 bytes? I know the VISA version can
but I don't know about the lower level vi.

Thank you,
Van

Hello Van,
Can you elaborate a little more on your application? What is the requirement for having more than 65,534 bytes of buffer size? Can you not read data in smaller chunks at a time and then write to a file (or similar approach)?

Also, in the more recent versions of LabVIEW, serial vis are replaced by VISA vis, and thus is the provision of 'VISA Set I/O Buffer Size.vi' to be able to reset the size of buffer (which goes upto around the same number that you have mentioned above-65KBytes). Please let know.

Again, thank you for choosing National Instruments!

Hi Swapnil,

We need to download 525K of raw data
at a time through the modem. So
we need a serial buffer big enough to
handle that. If I try to read more
than 65K continuously, the lower level
vi will not store beyond that. It will
only store 4000 bytes actually.

Thanks,
Van
