Lost content of Constant String Controls based on Strict Type

This is what happened:

• I had a Strict Type Definition control based on a string which was stored in a Class.
• I used several instances in various VIs in my project.
• For some reason, after updating that Type Definition (I recall changing the width) all the instances where I had them as constants lost their values returning them to empty strings.
• I'm using LabVIEW 2017.

I'm an avid user of defining custom type definitions and I have never seen this behavior. I haven't been able to recreate this.

Does anyone can help me to clarify what may have happened?

Thank you for those references. I learned something that I'm not sure why was never clear to me after all these years of use.

It is annoying and frustrating.
