Looking for Run-Time Engine 8.0.1

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello all,

I am trying to get an older piece of equipment (a sensor used with Turner C-Soft 005-2200) working for a user. Most of our installs are fine, but this one user is presented with the error attached each time C-Soft tries to run. I have done troubleshooting on the software and many reinstalls and at this point it seems it would be easier to get LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.0.1 manually.

I downloaded LabVIEW 2011 SP1 32-bit Runtime on an educated guess (32bit confirmed, 2011 is the year the software was released) from http://www.ni.com/en-us/support/downloads/software-products/download.labview.html but that was not correct. Is there A) anywhere to obtain the Run-Time Engine as a standalone and B) is there anywhere to see which version number matches which year version of LabVIEW?

B) the version number is clearly given: LV-RTE8.0.1 related to LabVIEW8.0 (with minor patch). When you download LV-RTE2011SP1 then this is different than LV-RTE8.0.1…

A) Call your local NI support, they might be able to help you. You know LV8.0.1 is quite old now (from autumn 2005)? NI usually supports the current version and 3 or 4 versions before: right now you can get LV2019 and support back to LV2016… (Some additional information: wih my active SSP I can download back to LV2009SP1. No immediate support for LV8.6.1, LV8.6, LV8.5, LV8.21, LV8.20, LV8.0…)

Best regards,
GerdW

I'm not sure I fully understand on how to obtain RTE8.

According to this guide (https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z0000019Kn0SAE&l=en-US), I need to download from this page (http://www.ni.com/en-us/support/downloads/software-products/download.labview.html). That is the page I used and it only lists versions by year. Any links I can find leading directly to a RTE download (example: www.ni.com/download/labview-run-time-engine-8.2/679/en/&usg=AOvVaw1LTfxdGMDiHrz-uHTZXtID) redirect to the same page.

Unfortunately, I do not know if the newest versions will be compatible with this sensor. It is almost a decade old and a necessary piece of equipment for water testing.

Hi Brian,

no, newer versions are not compatible with that old LV8.0 executable.

Yes, the same for me: any link to an old LV8.x RTE is redirected to the software download page - which only offers software starting with LV2009.

That's why I suggested to call your local NI support to help you!

When that sensor/software is "critical" to your setup I recommend to look for a modern replacement or to upgrade the LabVIEW sources to a recent LabVIEW version. Really!

Best regards,
GerdW
