Lock the size of a string readout

Hello,

I made a VI to control a system via  RS232. For that reason it is required to have a large string indicator, that acts as a "terminal" for the system to respond. The VI is meant to be exported as a standalone .exe later on.

The problem is now that when I move or resize the window, whether I am running the .exe or the VI directly, the string indicator changes size, sometimes it even keeps an odd size when I reset the window to the original size.

Is there a way to lock the size of an object? Lock and Group seem not to help.

Thanks, Ivo

Hi,

I guess "Scale object with Pane" is active. Try disabling the option.

Tried that before, it's not that.

Go into the control properties and turn off the option to scale with the pane.

If that is not the issue, then I will have to look at your VI when I get into the office.

Well, you are setting the height and width when your panel resizes.  It is right there in your Event Structure.  If you do not want that to happen, then remove that case.

Thank you, it was exactly that.

I had parts of this VI from an example and I did not know what that case did then.

I thought it was something about the autoscrolling
