Hi Syd, missed the range part. Bet the USART in your PIC microcontroller(wonders which one it is) is 8 bit so you are restricted in the range. What you can do is if you dont send arbitrary numbers as in a specific set of numbers, than you can make a look up table in the micro and send coded values(make some up yourself) for that number.
