Labview V 6.0.3 not on dropdown list on ni.com/failure. Only 6.0.2 & 6.1.

I'm using Robolab v2.5  for my child's lego robot project. I installed it fine, then trying to run it I got a message that said there was a failure with Labview (I guess it's part of the Robolab package) at image.cpp, labview version 6.0.3, line 10066. The message said to go to ni.com/failure for support. There was a dropdown menu to plug in the version of Labview but there wasn't 6.0.3. Only 6.0.2 and 6.1. I get an error when I try to put my failure in under 6.0.2 or 6.1. Elsewhere on the Labview site, for instance in this forum, there is a dropdown for v 6.0.3. So how do I fix this? I'm using a fairly new dell computer (3 mos.) with ms windows xp on it.

The 6.0.x versions were a few years ago, but I seem to remember the only time I saw 6.0.3 was when I was running a beta version of LabVIEW RealTime for 6.0.x. After I installed that, LabVIEW reported itself as 6.0.3.

As far as I know, there's no 6.0.3 update that can be downloaded, and quick search of the FTP site only shows the 6.0.2 update.

My guess would be that the 6.0.3 version has something to do with the Robolab addon. I guess some one at NI will have to shed a bit more light on this problem.

Tell us some more information about this error you're seeing. When does it happen? Is it reproducible? When it crashes, save the error log and post it in this forum. Thanks!

I am in the exact same sit., tpalazzo. Im in the robotics league and whenever i try to start robolab, an error message pops up and says to come to this site and enter v.6.0.3, image.cpp, line 10066. This happens every time i try. Im not sure it matters, but the laptop i am using is fairly new ( 4 months). earlier today, I ran this program perfectly, and since i quit out of it then, I have not been able to start it. I have not tried restarting my computer (that seems to work with most things...). I am also running ms windows xp. this also happens when i try to skip through the labview window and try to open a program straight to robolab. I am using robolab version 1.5 and, again, labveiw v. 6.0.3. If you need any more info., post and ill reply. thx a lot

Do you notice this problem with just the one program you've written or does the error occur with all programs? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Robolab? What happened when you restarted your computer? Also, the next time it crashes, an error log should be generated. It should appear in the C:\...\My Documents\LabVIEW Data directory. Post it in the discussion forum and we'll take a look at it.

well, the problem seems to come up with any program i try to open. I have not tried reinstalling robolab. When i restarted my computer, Robolab opened and everything functioned properly, but when I tried again, after quitting out of robolab, the same error came up. I cant find the error log you're talking about. The only thing i found that could closely resemble it is setuplog.txt, but i dont think thats it. what kind of file is it, txt im assuming...? if by some random chance i find it, though, ill post it. it may not have created itself yet, im not sure if it just records the information in a blank notepad or if its not there untill an error occurs.

Thanks of the quick reply. I had assumed that Robolab would generate the same error log file that LabVIEW does since it is built on top of LabVIEW. However that may not be the case. If you should get a dialogue box that pops up when Robolab crashes asking if you want to submit a report, please do so. That report will either be sent to us at National Instruments or to the manufacturers of Robolab. In any event, the information will be helpful for us in the future. In the mean time, try uninstalling and reinstalling Robolab and let us know what you find.

I don't think LabVIEW 6 generated those error log files as LabVIEW 7 does. Not sure if it did generate an error log at all, but definitely not in ...\My Documents\LabVIEW Data directory. It may however create a file in the temporary directory.

As to the error message it is probably worth a try to enter 6.0.2 instead. It is not very likely that the code base of LabVIEW has changed so significantly that this message would be in another place. That said the error page on the NI site has not a single time helped me up til now. I always seem to only get errors NI hasn't felt like adding to that database.

I believe at this point the best course of action is to actually contact Lego by going to the Robolab Site - LEGO Mindstorms For Schools. LEGO supports this product and has engineers who will be better enabled to address your issue. Please post again if you are .unable to receive any help from them.
