Labview NXG can't see Keithley 2400C

Hi all,

 

I've just installed LabView NXG 2.0, and I'm trying to get it to talk to a Keithley 2400C source meter. In the System Designer, the only bit of hardware I can see in the live view is my own computer, and when I try to add hardware using NI MAX, it doesn't work. I've got the settings right because sending *IDN?\n to the unit returns the Keithley's details.

 

Other things which may be relevant

  • On the NXG main screen, there are tabs at the top right hand side marked 'Welcome', 'Projects' and 'Learning', but none marked 'Hardware', which according to some other help I've read should be there.
  • I've got NI-Serial and NI-VISA installed
  • I'm using a generic USB-Serial converter from RS

I'm almost certainly doing something stupid, but can anyone tell me what?
