Labview Evaluation software Setup problem. "merged.bin" missing. Help!

I tried installing the Labview 7 Evaluation software that I downloaded. A file named "merged.bin" seems to be missing. First, when I opened the setup.exe file, I got an error message that "merged.bin" has not been found. Then I saved a blank Notepad file as merged.bin and re-ran setup.exe. The installer started running but I got the following error message:

I'm guessing that the download is corrupt or incomplete. What's the size of the downloaded lv70_eval.exe?

Looking at the file properties, mine is 172 MB (180,694,594 bytes).

Can you please open merged.bin in your LV_70_EVAL folder, copy the whole text in it and paste it in your next reply? I will make the file myself! Or much simpler: Send me the file itself as an attachment. Thank You!

Hmm, most probably this is not a text file but a binary instead.

Merged.bin is a ~26MB binary file. I don't think that substituting another merged.bin would solve your problem. Most likely the error message is just an indication of a bigger issue. Something got scrambled somewhere and you need a good copy of everything. I would also highly recommend to scan your hard disk for errors, including a surface scan. Do you have enough disk space? How fragmented is your disk?

Another possibility: Do you run an updated antivirus? First (1) do a virus scan, then (2) disable the antivirus while extracting and installing the LV-eval version.

I use Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 and it's updated. I ran a virus scan and didnt find anything. I think you are right. Something must have happened during the download. Anyway, I'm re-downloading it.

Am unable to download the Labview 8.5 evaluation from the ftp link provided, the exe has been removed i suppose.

can anyone confirm and update NI about this.
