Labview Errors

Dear Madam/Sir,

I face some labviews errors when I do my labview codings.

Some extra lines, which are not generated by me, come out. And these lines are not connected to any function block symblols.

These labview errors do not affect running program, but sometimes the labview closes suddenly and requests to send error report when I edit the labview codings.

May I know how to solve this issue? My labview program is quite complicated and I don't want to recode it.

Thanks!

Best Regards!

Try running block diagram cleanup.

Are you sure it isn't a graphics redraw issue?

Thanks for your reply. The block diagram cleanup function is not working for this VI. And I confirm that it is not graphics redraw issue.

It is very large.  Perhaps you've hit some limits as to the size of the block diagram window.  Something must have corrupted the block diagram arrangement.

I suggest going back to your source code repository and retrieving a version that did not have this problem.

Or just re-code it from scratch.

Yes, it is very large.

Retrieve a version and recode will take long time. Can local NI technical staff help to resolve the issue?

Thanks!

Hi Zhaonian,

Retrieving an older version from SCC (or even a backup) only takes seconds.

Recoding might take an hour.

(How long are you struggling with this VI right now? For several hours or even days?)

I don't think so, but you are free to call them…

Lessons learned:

  • Never let the block diagram of a VI grow this large by following the StyleGuide in the LabVIEW help.
  • Setup a SCC system (or implement a backup scheme on a regular interval).
