Hey,
I'm not sure what you mean with "cache components", however if you select any drivers to include with your installer LabVIEW always take the msi files from the directory from where you installed them on your system....so in your case the DVD.

Just before building the installer, a window pops up saying:
Locate the "LabVIEW 8.6, Disk 1" distribution. LabVIEW needs to copy a component installed or updated by the distribution to continue building the installer.
<File path control>
<system checkbox> Cache components from this distribution
With previous versions of LabVIEW I didn't need the installation DVD/CD's anymore after the first time I built the installer with the system checkbox enabled. LabVIEW 8.6 keeps asking for the LabVIEW 8.6 disk; the first time is OK, the next times it should read the data needed from the cache location.

Hey,
Did you allready had a look on this thread: http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=200&message.id=18878&requireLogin=False
Someone had the same issue under 8.5.1 and after some hints he reinstalled everything and it worked. Maybe you can try some of the hints, like copying the distribution to your harddrive and then try to cache it again with the new folder selected.
Hope this helps,
Christian
