Labview 8.2 w/a SCX1-1000

I am trying to monitor temperatures using thermocouples (type k).  The thermocouples hook-up to a NI SCX1-1000.  To resolve issues with another program that ran off of national instruments runtime engines I had to uninstall labview.  I recently re-installed labview 8.2.  I can open up old files that were saved, but the code doesn't work anymore.  I do not know how to fix the code.  I have tried using the labview help link, and following a tutorial, but it has not been much help.  This is what the error message and the code look like:

Hi,

It looks like you are missing some driver VIs or the particular sub VI itself. Your options are to either redesign the sub VI that its looking for or install the required drivers. Are you able to identify which sub VI is missing?

It says the

"Convert C to F.vi is missing"

I can search the C drive to try and find it.  If I can't find it, any ideas on where I can find it (is it down-loadable?)?

This particular VI is found under the LabVIEW example Simple Dual Mode Thermometer Xcontrol.

• Open the project for the example.
• Expand my computer in the project
• Expand Simple Dual Mode Thermometer Xcontrol.xctl
• Expand VIs
• The VI you are looking for is C to F.vi

I found by searching my C drive.

I found the convert C to F.vi and have that portion of the code fixed (I think).  Now I have a different problem with the code.  Here is a link to the new error message:

When I click the "show errors" button it hightlights the DAQ assistant 2.  Does this mean that it doesn't recognize the DAQ?  How do i fix this?

The error states the a particular sub VI called "Thermocouple Data Logger Type K". I would recommended that you open up that particular SubVI and check why the arrow is broken on that. The main VI will not run until all the sub vi's are fixed. I would also recommended that you go to MAX (Measurement and Automation explorer) and perform a self test on the device. Make sure that the device name/id in the DAQ assistant is the same as in MAX.

I can't find a Vi named:  Thermocouple Data Logger Type K

The self test runs without a problem.  If the name is different i wouldn't even know; I am still learning.

Do you think it would be easier for me to start a thermocouple VI from scratch instead of opening up old templates?  If so what is the easiest way for me to learn how to write the code?

Hi,

Thermocouple Data Logger Type K.vi does not ship with LabVIEW. There are examples that come with LabVIEW that you might be able to use and modify to fit your own needs.

• Under help, go to Find Examples
• Under the directory structure, click on Hardware Input and Output
• Selet DAQmx
• Select Analog Measurements
• Select Temperature
• Go through the example programs

Please check for the hardware that can be used with the programs as not all programs are compatible with the SCXI. The Cont Acq RTD Samples -Int Clk- SCXI 1102+1581 might work with your setup.

I would also recommeded that you learn about DAQmx to help you understand the programming behind it. Getting started with NI-DAQmx has a lot of useful information to self teach DAQmx.
