If I go to the LabVIEW 8.2 folder on my computer, and right-click the LabVIEW.exe file and choose "Properties", and go to the "Version" tab in the Properties dialog, I get a version of "8.2.0.4002".

I ran accross an installation that was listed as version 8.2b23. I have to assume that someone has a beta or a bootleg copy they downloaded from somewhere.

It is recommended that the Beta be uninstalled before installing the 8.20.  b23 was a beta version and it has bugs and I would not use it for any develpment of software.

This is a bootleg copy Smiley Mad the beta program di not go up that high. I found the same thing on the net when doing a search about LV8.20 before it was released, I then contacted the beta program administrator and this is what he said.

There is not supposed to be any newer build out there other than beta 2 (b13).   If may be that one of the developer's sent a newer build to a customer to validate a bug fix that we couldn't validate here, but we haven't had another fully tested and released beta build.

The Beta 2 build is the last beta release build.  We typically send out the release candidate to a few of our most active beta users for some quick validation testing.  If you would like to be included in that group, I can do that.

Wow...  This is the first time I've ever heard of a bootlegged copy of LV.

- now where is that "surprised" icon -

Unfortunately JLV, they're easier to find than you'd think.

I doubt NI can do much without a giant fuss, and undoubtedly they know about it.  Being developers ourselves the practice of ripping off software seems unjust.

I haven't visited torrent sites, yet.

I know of them... I just never heard of LV on them.

Interesting...  I don't know if it is actually much of a problem, but it might become one.

It's a reality in the digital world.....
