ADAM 4570 (serial <-> tcp/ip) appears as COMports when installed and we use the serial VIs to communicate with them, however if the ADAM unit for some reason is off the network serial port init crashes. As we need to be able to do port initializations even if the ADAM turns out to be off the network (we use several ADAMs in parallell, a redundancy setup) without the whole application freezing this is a big problem...Has anyone seen this before and found a solution? If you use e.g. HyperTerminal initialising will fail, but not crash HyperTerminal...the LabVIEW serial port VIs seems a bit vulnerable to this kind of failure; we have seen it before on a serial port card, back then we had to turn off hardware control on the card to get rid of
the freeze problem, the ADAM modules have that turned off already so that's not the case this time though...
