LabVIEW & ActiveX (controlling WinAMP)

Hi.

Does anybody here know a way to control WinAMP through LabVIEW? WinAMP isn't
registered as an ActiveX component, neither can I find an .ocx installer for
it. I can't seem to find a list of command line options, so the EXEC
function can't easily be used.

Any ideas?

No idea about winamp, but if you need a mp3 player for LabVIEW, you could use GAMP, the LabVIEW mp3 player, which you can find at http://zone.ni.com/devzone/devzoneweb.nsf/opendoc?openagent&AB3096414BA2457D862568C500676FF7&cat=2E4161187E3DEB30862568660020BCC8
Hope this helps

Hi Steen,

WinAmp doesn't use any ActiveX components. You can only control it by
sending messages to the application. Take a look at the developer site and
you will find a complete list of all messages. I already tried it sometime
ago with good results.
For sending messages you have to use the SendMessage or PostMessage function
of the WinAPI... therefor you need a WrapperDLL. You can write it for
yourself or look at some existing vi's.

good luck
Henrik

Thanks - I've made a dll-wrapper. It works perfectly. (I'm not too fond of
Media Player 🙂
