LabVIEW 2019 32bit failed to start on Windows 10 Pro

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I just installed LabVIEW 2019 on my Windows 10 Pro and it doesn't start.

No failure message or anything.

LabVIEW 2018 32bit works without any issues.

Thanks for help in advance

Hard to tell from the limited description.

  • Did you reboot after installation?
  • Did you install just plain LabVIEW or also drivers, modules, toolkits, etc.
  • Are you running any unusual antivirus or security software?
  • How long did you wait after clicking the exe?
  • Anything in the system log or task manager?

  • Did you reboot after installation? Yes I rebooted a few times
  • Did you install just plain LabVIEW or also drivers, modules, toolkits, etc. I installed LabVIEW 2019, JKI VI Package Manager, NI-DAQmx, NI-488.2, NI-Visa, NI-Serial, PXI Platform Services
  • Are you running any unusual antivirus or security software? No security or antivirus is installed
  • How long did you wait after clicking the exe? I tried a few times and waited 1-5 min
  • Anything in the system log or task manager? nothing unusual recognized

Thank you so far

Can you run MAX?  If so, run MAX, choose the "Software" tab, and take a Screen Shot showing the Software that MAX sees on your machine.  In addition, click the Start button, type "Services" in the Search windows to bring up the list of Windows Services, scroll down to see the 12-20 Services that start "NI XXX" and take a Screen Shot of this list.

The first Screen Shot will show us what MAX thinks is installed.  The second will show us if any important Service needed to run LabVIEW is "conspicuous by its absence".

P.S. -- can you also, please, start NIPM and let us know which version of NIPM you are running?  NIPM has been "improved" several times since NIPM 19.0 was released ...

Sorry for reviving this 5 years later, but I am having the same issue. I have to use Labview 2019 because I am using a myRIO 1900 that seems only to run Labview 2019, and I couldn't update the firmware for it.

I can use the Windows search bar to search for Labview 2019. I click on it, but it doesn't run. I checked the task manager, and it doesn't appear there. The same is true if I find the executable in the file explorer or use NI MAX to launch the software.

I believe I am using NIPM 2019.

I have attached the screenshots you asked for.

It sounds like the LabVIEW process is likely crashing so quickly that it does not get a chance to even show up visually. We use LabVIEW 2019 all the time so this should not be happening.

1) For starters I would suggest that you look in the Windows Event Viewer ("C:\Windows\system32\eventvwr.exe"), and look at Windows Logs>>Application for any logged events of level "Error" and see if you see something related to LabVIEW.exe.

2) I assume that this did not happen on this system and then started to happen. Any obvious changes to the system right before this started to happen?

1) It doesn't show in there either. I have the event viewer open, and I tried to open Labview from the Windows start bar, but it didn't appear in the event viewer. I also tried opening it via the .exe in the file explorer and using NI MAX to open it. None of them showed up in the event viewer.

However, this error popped up (See the first image). It doesn't appear to be Labview, but it's related to NI.

2) I previously had this issue with Labview 2019 64bit and couldn't open it. However, I also had LabVIEW 2021 32bit installed at the time. So, I used the Package Manager to remove everything from my computer. Then, I just installed the MyRIO software bundle, which came with labVIEW 32bit.

I tried repairing the packages I installed from the MyRIO software bundle and I got this error:

unable to repair.png

So maybe something went wrong with the installation of the software bundle?

Thank you for your help 🙂
