LabVIEW 2012 hangs on startup

I have downloaded labview 2012 a couple of days ago, and whenever I try to lunch the program it just freezes the whole pc on startup, so I have to shutdown my pc using the shutdown button (I can't even lunch the task manager to end the process). I read some solutions but couldn't find anything very related, so what I did (as one of the solutions to a partially different issue) I disabled the Self-Defense from the Kaspersky Internet Security and the program worked just fine! I don't know what seems to be the issue now, do I have to keep the Self-Defense disabled or am I facing a different problem?

Your help will be appreciated!

Not sure.  Sounds like something went wrong when you installed your downloaded version.  I've only ever installed from the several-DVD Distribution Kit that I licensed from NI -- maybe you should purchase such a kit.

From your first quoted sentence you can unequivocally conclude that the problem is with Kasperski. That's the issue! (assuming your copy of LabVIEW is legitimate).

Many of these "security programs" are very intrusive and often block legitimate processes, especially if the program is older and relatively rare. Maybe you can whitelist LabVIEW 2012 in the kasperski configuration. If this does not help, you need to contact them, not NI.

Are you on SSP or have an existing valid license for LV 2012? if not, you can typcally only download the current LabVIEW version for evaluation. What is preventing you from using LabVIEW 2015 instead? Where did you get the LabVIEW 2012? Was it from a legitimate site? Maybe it is a cracked version tha also contains hidden malware that sets off kasperski. The only safe place to download LabVIEW is directly fom National Instruments. Did you?

Thank you altenbach for replying. My version is not cracked, I got labVIEW directly from NI and I have a valid license. Now the issue seems to be gone but now am facing a different situation, I can't see any component neither in the Functions nor in the Controls palette, does this depend on the version am using?
. And am using 2012 version because my instructor is using it.

You should read his other post which was posted after the "it works except for Kasperski" bit.   http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Functions-amp-Controls-palettes-are-empty/m-p/3202360

The legitimacy of the software is very much in question.

NI isn't selling LabVIEW now. How did you get it directly from NI?

What is the exact model of your CPU? (e.g. does it support SSE2 instructions, does it have more than 16 cpu cores, etc.)

Did you try reinstalling after disabling kasperski? Maybe it prevented the installations of some important component?

Did you customize the install location or did you use the defaults when installing?

Kasperski is not an issue.   Trust me OK?

"2012 because my instructor is using it...... "That might be an issueいらだったスマイリー (Hint: Tell your instructor to get a valid Academic License with SSP!)  And, while the instructional institution is paying nearly nothing for educational licenses, get the local NI Rep on the telegraph!  Or, have your instructor chat with them on the Telephone if you have such advanced tech on campus!

How can you hope to be a future contributer to science without access to current tools?  Maybe you need to transfer your academic credits?
