LabSQL can´t make it work

HI

I´ve been trying to use LabSQL, but without any success, I followed the step by step installation readme which came with LabSQL 1.1a, I create the DSN and everything  (I think), but when I try to run the examples I only get warnings and errors, and the  coecctionstring is not wired correctly

I´m using Windows Vista ultimate, and Labview 8.0

Any Idea?

I've had great success using LabSQL and a MS Access database.  Most of the pain was forming the correct connection string.  I would recommend going to this site for help:

It could be that if it's a new, clean PC (without office on it), that the
activeX component isn't installed.

I think it's the DOA com object, and that you can download it from ms.

It's ADO... But it is installed on my clean Vista laptop, so it should be
installed on your pc as well.

It could be that there was a version change or something. That could mean
you have to browse to the ADO object again. (Right click it, Select ActiveX
class). If that is the case, I'm afraid you might have to do that for every
reference control and indicator in the library.

The fact that ConnectionString and all of the others are grey, would seem to indicate that ADO is not installed. Gto to the front panel and right click on the ActiveX reference (ADODB._Connection In). Select Browse and then see if you can find Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects.

I have yet to use Vista and I hope to avoid it for some time yet so I have no idea what the default installation includes but you may have to download the latest version of MDAC from microsoft.

You can't find the object because you don't have the Type Library set. You're currently looking at the Acrobat Type Library, and that doesn't have the class type you need. You need to pull down that menu and scroll down the (probably very long) list until you find something like "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects ...", with the rest being the version number. See below for example screen shot:



That said, with Vista MS has deprecated MDAC and replaced it with WDAC. Not sure what the differences are, but you can read more here.
