Issues with tagsrv.exe

Hi All,

I found that a process by name "tagsrv.exe" is causing my PC  restart atleast once in a day. I searched some forums and found that this exe is associated with LabView  Can any one tell me what does this exe for? Can I disable this exe?

Thanks and Regards,
Siddu

No, the tagsrv.exe still runs even after I quit LabVIEW. Smiley Happy

I dont use LabView DSC. I found that my PC reboots I obseved in crash dump analyser that its because of access violation error. The process name reported to be either LabView or tagsrv.exe.

How can I avoid them from accessing an invalid or reserved memory space..

Thanks and Regards

hi there

the tagsvr.exe is started by the service

"National Instruments Variable Engine"

This service handles the DSC-Tags and the shared variables. If you disable this service some applications may not work any more. What's your LV-Version and your OS? Is your OS up to date?

Best regards
chris

hm, 8.0.1, first version of shared variables, and Windows 2000...

if i were you and i had the money i'd upgrade to 8.2 and XP.

Try to disable the tagsvr.exe servive and see what happens. if you don't use DSC and shared variables this should work.

Best regards
chris
