Issues using Internet toolkit and File Get VI

I am able to get the file from the FTP host  (remote) on the first run through the program.  Every run afterwords is unable to overwrite the existing file on the local machine.  Is there a way to "force" the VIs to overwrite the old files on the local server?

I get a file 8, EOF error and 15425  FTP transaction error;  425 connection error.

Also, is there a way to remotely delete files on the FTP host (remote) machine?

Thanks,

Bill

Deleting files from a computer remotely and programmatically ..... sounds like a virus to me :smileywink:

Nope, no hacking here, just want to keep my files up to date.  New data gathered 24/7 and want to update old files daily.

But thanks for your concerns...Smiley Happy

I wasnt accusing you of hacking (directly), I was pointing out a potential problem:

Computers (specifically the virus blockers) usually frown upon remote systems deleting things.
I have a strong feeling the host computer will block your VI

Sorry, not too quick today.  So you are telling me that I need to do a work around, like renaming the file of interest or some such.

I can do that.  Not as easy, but it will work.

I am trying to update an older VI that used the system exec.vi, it used to let me FTP the new file and overwrite the older file.  Maybe I included some other code to work around this issue, but I don't see it.

Thanks for the help.

I agree with Corey that you may have issues with the host computer blocking your VI, but the error 15425 seems to fix itself if you change the ftp mode from active to passive. The default is true, but wiring-in a false constant should take care of the error and enable successful file transferring.

The reasons for this are explained here.
