Is Labview using closed file formats?

Solved!
Go to solution

Are Labview's file formats like .vi or .ctl proprietary?

I'd like to programatically create (very) simple vis. Is there any documentation for the .vi format, however incomplete?

Are there any tools to export/import vis into/from open format files?

Is it illegal to reverse-engineer the .vi format?

Thanks!

Yes, the formats are proprietary.

Maybe scripting will solve what you want to do?

About reverse engineering, you should carefully read your software license agreement. I am sure there are relevant passages. 😉

Can you describe what you're actually wanting to do? What simple VIs do you need to programmatically create?
