Is LabVIEW in use in the Food Industry ?

VADave,

VADave a écrit: NI has a section on their web-site for customer solutions.  http://sine.ni.com/cs/app/main. There is a section on Food / beverage http://sine.ni.com/cs/app/nav/p/sn/n21:Food-SLASH-Beverage

These are the examples I was referring to in my original question !.. Well, it doeds not hurt anyway ! 😉

The brewery stuff is all propriatairy. Basically, it doesn't matter if a
pilot plant is handling beer, milk or oil. The piping, tmeperatures and
pressures are different, but from a software point of view things are pretty
similar.
What kind of details do you want? I've done pilot plants with up to 125
I/O's (Digital, analog, counters, pwms, thermocouples, heaters and scales)
with logging, recipes, and all the pipes and wissles you can imagine.

Wiebe,

Of course your comment about the similarity between a chemical plant and a food processing plant is perfectly right. Something also pointed out by Ben in his reply just above (Thanks Ben).

Again, I'm not the one to convince !:D

Sure I know about that. I have produced a few applications, with processes ranging from 0.1 ml to 100 cubic meters. Some including real time image analysis for process control. Believe me, the problem is elsewere. But to my collegue, this is just a proof that Chilly Charly can build a LabVIEW controlled process !!! 😞 😄

Ideally, if I could tell my collegues that most of Nestlé, Coca-Cola and Danone production plants were run using LabVIEW applications, the issue would be closed. We are quite far from this situation. For instance, there is a Danone example on the NI site, but I know that this specific example is obsolete : the production line supervision as unfortunately be replaced... and LabVIEW abandonned...

Can someone tell me why this thread has been "floated to the top by administrator"?

I know its still not exactly what you are looking for, but Coca-Cola does use LabVIEW in their QA lab in Atlanta.  I have written a program to control a carbonation shaker system, an alliquotting system, and a decarbonation system.  I know LabVIEW also runs their line for making syrup bags.

I also wrote a LV program for a company in Israel which controlled a grow room for varying foods, mostly sprouts.

Thanks Matthew !

Not exactly, but so close that's well within the experimental error ! 😄

Could you give me more details, or a reference, or a contact ? you can email me at chillycharly(a)free.fr

Hi CC,

In the US we have one govermental organization that over-sees both Food and Drugs.

Mack Information Systems has a ready to use "21-CFR-11" Compliant applicaiton.

See more about Plexxium here.

Their Chief Scientist is a contributor to this forum.

I would also be interested in hearing more about that one.

Jeffrey,

as I said in the post #1 and 21 , this link presents only 5 relevant examples (over 14). There should be some serious update to have something convincing.
