Installing a Labview app

We would like to release Labview apps with proper installers. We have
InstallShield and would be able to get an InstallShield installer that
installs NI-DAQ, the Labview runtime and the app itself.

What we do not know how to do with InstallShield is setting the hardware up
and the channels, in MAX. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to
programatically set up MAX?

You can simply save the configuration in MAX and have that included in the distribution kit. If you go into MAX and choose Tools->NI-DAQ Configuration->Save Active Configuration and then make this .daq fie part of your app.

Thanks for the response.

Firstly, you say "make the .daq file part of the app". How? How can the app,
or the installer, programatically load this back into MAX, if necessary
merging it with what's already there?

Secondly, we'd played about with this export function and noticed that it
has lots of hardware details about the card- IRQs, memory locations etc.
Since these are plug+play, there's no guarantee that if a cus
tomer needs to
recover a DAQ system on a new machine the hardware settings will be the
same. What happens in this case? Does MAX simply say there's no card there
and refuse to work or will it intelligently adjust the settings?

Hi Craig

You're right, there can be some issues with the settings, especially when you're working with virtual channels. I recommend you to read this KB, it explains what "problems" can occur and how you can load a *.daq programatically.
