I'm trying to create a simulated device (PXI-4071 DMM) using NI-DAQmx 8.9.5 but the list of instruments (see attached picture) contains far less than the list shown in the "NI-DAQmx Simulated Devices" tutorial. Most specifically, it doesn't contain the category "Digital Multimeters" where I'd expect to find the PXI-4071. What drives the list of available instruments? Are there device drivers I need to load to fill out the rest of the list?

Install the latest DAQmx drivers. I am running 9.2.3 and it shows up.

A DMM does not use DAQmx so that is why you would not see it listed. You use NI-DMM and it can be simulated if you use the IVI driver.
Edit:
"Install the latest DAQmx drivers. I am running 9.2.3 and it shows up."
You are correct. Never saw that before.

I just checked and I have NI-DMM installed as well. So I would guess it gets added when the DMM software is installed because it is not listed in the 9.2.3 readme as being supported.
