Imaq Vision Package

I'm using Labview 8 with an evaluation version of the vision toolkit. My application is acquiring images using a usb webcam. The only reason that I installed the vision toolkit is because in order to install the imaq-usb drivers it said that vision was required. I now need to create an executable from my vi. Is it necessary to purchase a license for the vision toolkit or is there someway to just get by with the imaq-usb stuff and not worry about the toolkit. Thanks

nmcma,

Thanks for your post.  NI's free IMAQ for USb driver is built around our Vision Development Module (which is why you are required to installed Vision with the driver).  Vision does require a license for deployment (see the following Knowledge Base for more information).  You do not need to purchase a full development license, but will have to at least puchase a seat of the deployment license for each PC you intend to install the final EXE on.

Thanks,

Hello nmcma,

Thank you for contacting National Instruments.  In order to run an executable that was built using the IMAQ for USB driver, a single seat license for Vision Deployment will be required because the IMAQ for USB driver uses VIs that are part of the Vision Development Module.  The Vision Acquisition Software package does not contain such a license.  For more information on building executables for the IMAQ for USB driver, please go to this link.
